This is the “unofficial” sandwich of a Southern summer. It is incredibly simple, but there is a very specific way to build it so it doesn’t get soggy and every bite is perfect.
The star of the show is the tomato. It has to be a big, ripe, juicy garden tomato (like a Beefsteak or Heirlooom).

2 slices White Bread (thick-cut “Texas Toast” style or a good sturdy sourdough)

4 to 6 slices Thick-cut Bacon

1 large Ripe Tomato (sliced thick)

2 tablespoons Duke’s Mayonnaise (or your favorite heavy mayo)
